Neha Kapur: A Homecoming of Style and Substance

Meet the girl who is my home.

I often joke with Neha that she is the senior (and more refined) version of me and the only person who can make me reach anywhere on time. Last July when I was at her Delhi home, we had a conversation about what makes a house a home. Living between almost 3 cities across the world, I asked her to define what home really means and in Ne's words, "Home is not a place but the people and the feeling and I get the best of them all"

Excerpts from our conversation below:

There's more to Neha than just style. She's also a bookworm, and her love for literature, especially Bengali authors, is a Delhi tradition by now. She shared, "For the last couple of years, I've been basically coming to Delhi and I've had this fixation for Bengali authors." Her home library is a treasure trove of wisdom and creativity.

Style, Simplicity, and Embracing Your Unique Self

When it comes to style, Neha's philosophy is refreshingly straightforward: "For me, style is your most authentic self. It could be as simple as a white shirt and blue jeans. Because any girl, any shape and size, any form, would always look at it and be like, oh, that's a really good classic." Her wardrobe is a testament to this belief, filled with timeless pieces that celebrate the beauty of simplicity. It's a reminder to embrace our unique selves, quirks and all.

You're you, there's only one of you, and there's no one like you, and you should remember that."  - Neha Kapur

As always, we spoke about consciousness and individuality. Neha shared her observation, that we humans often blindly follow trends, losing sight of our unique identities along the way. "We're all this one consciousness. If they're doing something, we must do the same. In doing so, we also forget that we are all unique selves." Her words truly hit home and resonate with the lighthearted wisdom that makes her, her. It's a reminder that being true to yourself is like wearing your favourite comfy sneakers—you can't go wrong, and it feels just right.

Home Sweet Home

But what's truly special about Neha's Delhi abode is how it whisks her back to carefree days. It's like a time machine that lets her forget about adult responsibilities, leaving behind her LA life, husband, and household duties. India, for Neha, is where family resides, and it's like hitting the rewind button on life. It makes her feel like a kid again, surrounded by the love and warmth of her dear ones. So, in her words, being at home here isn't just about the place; it's about feeling like she's back to being a kid, and her house is her playground.
